Oversplit

Also: hypersplit

A split extended beyond 180 degrees. Both a front split and side split can be extended into an oversplt, but due to the stricture of the pelvis and femurs, it is easier to train a front split to a greater angle. Therefore, a front split is assumed unless specified otherwise.

One or both legs may be elevated - by a chair, books, yoga blocks, or stall bars - or it may be achieved temporarily by dynamic strength.

The apparent angle of a split can be exaggerated by a overextension on either knee.
